Having A Diva Moment~Scraps Of Elegance

Today, I have a layout to share that I created with the Scraps Of Elegance January Kit~Renea's Charm. My sister Tammy, had done a photo session of my God-Child Michelle's little girl Crimson, and during the photo she got tired of having her photo taken, and so she face planted into her blankie and had herself a "Diva Moment"-LOL! The photo was just so darn cute that I couldn't resist scrapping it!!!

I layered a piece of the kit photo over a floral piece of the kit paper, and then did some tearing and paper curling to expose the print. I used a brick stencil and some Ranger Texture Paste to add lots of texture and visual interest, then used some matching paper to form the photo matte, distressing and paper curling it before adding on that precious photo. The Tiny Treasure Shabby Pink Roses Butterflies are from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop and Reneabouquets.com Store.

At the top corner, I took the FabScraps Chipboard frame from the kit and distress painted it white then took a Prima Resin Heart and added one of the pieces from the Embellishment Add On "Dreams" inside the frame. I added on some past kit flowers, cheesecloth and one of the little wicker hearts from the kit.

I formed a large flower layer at the bottom corner of the photo by adding flowers from the kit, Floral Add on, a Prima Tatiana Flower and lots of past kit flowers along with stash foliage, floral stems and cheesecloth. I then took a Resin Cameo Frame from a Reneabouquets Romance Trinket Pack and added a "Precious" piece from the E.A.O.

In the large tear at the bottom, I added one of the paper gates from the kit and topped it with another wicker heart from the kit and some past kit flowers.

I just love how Shabby, Country Chic this layout turned out!! Melinda, gave us so many of my FAV things in my FAV style in this kit and I have loved the way they so easily allow me to scrap my style!!! I hope you have enjoyed getting to scrap with it too!! Hugs ~Renea

Creatively Counting Down The Months With The Scraps Of Darkness December Kit~Northern Lights

Today, I have a, not only beautiful, but functional project to share with you!! I used the Scraps Of Darkness December Kit~Northern Lights to put together a Vintage Clipboard look Calendar. I actually had this idea filed away in my head after seeing a similiar project about a year ago done by Artist Tracy Payne, and this project was completely inspired by her, so thank you Tracy for your inspiration!!

I started by cutting out some chipboard in the shape of a clipboard, and then cut another layer from corrugated board. I then painted my corrugated board with Dina Wakley Gesso, and then going over it randomly  with Ranger Texture Paste to get a super frosted look.

I covered the back side with distressed paper from the kit,  that matched the paper I was adding to the front, just to get a nice finished look.

I then took a Tim Holtz Clipboard Clip  texturized it with the Ranger Texture Paste, added a botton and a piece of bling,  and took some long brads and attached it to the corrugated board layer, then glued the chipboard and corrugated board together for a nice sturdy piece. I added a little glass bottle of  Reneabouquets Teal Chunky Glitter Glass to the clipboard with velcro, so that it can be removed and used. I love to glitter everything up!!!

Next, I added kit paper that I distressed, inked with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Ink , and then edged with  Ranger Texture Paste mixed with Reneabouquets Diamond Glitter Glass, and tucked a 1/2 of a paper doily under the clip and topped it with the "everyday" word sticker from the kit.

I added another paper doily, a Vintage photo that I distessed, inked and texturized like my paper and then edged in tulle and then popped on some past kit flowers in the corner. The mittens are chipboard pieces from the kit that I gussied up with fake fur, gesso, flowers and the little Maya Road Snowflake Charms (also from the kit),  topped with some stash bling.

At the bottom corner of the photo I added some feathers, a resin bird, some past kit flowers that I edged in gesso, adding a large Reneabouquets Glamorous Trinket to the center for some extra shine!!

At the bottom of my clipboard I added fake fur and some Reneabouquets Victorian Days Lace and then I took one of those little mini calendars that I got in the mail, cut it down, distressed and inked the edges and then hinge clipped it so that each month can be removed, mounted it on chipboard and added it to my piece. I topped my Wintery, frosted look off by adding a set of 2 of my Reneabouquets Ice Butterflies on for dimension.

Thanks for the visit and for letting me show you how to put together a functional and FAB calendar!! I hope this year brings lots of  fun, creative projects your way!! Hugs ~Renea

Winter Wishes Made With The Scraps Of Darkness~Northern Lights Kit

If Winter has you feeling a little blue and longing for something warm, inside you can do then look no further than this month's Scraps Of Darkness Northern Lights Kit!! I just love the Winter themed look of this kit and it is soooo perfect for capturing those Winterliciously Wonderful Memories!

I created the following layout using lots of distressing, inking, misting, layering, and sand paste work along with a photo that my sis, Tammy, had taken last Winter that I then colorized in PhotoShop. Thank you sis for always letting me "borrow" your photos!!

Layers of different sizes of the kit papers were used as the base for this layout. I distessed the 2nd layer and then distress punched it randomly, and then inked the edges with Tim Holtz Seedless Preserves Ink, I then misted randomly with Prima Color Bloom Spray in Iris. The "snow" look along the edging was created with Prima White Sand Texture Paste and  Reneabouquets Chunky Glitter Glass in Diamond. I am not sure how I got the off white color, but I think it may have been the under inking pulling through~oh well "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow!!" LOL!!

There is a layer of double misted ribbon, a strip cut from the kit papers and some of the yummy purple trim from the kit. I added some burlap pieces that I inked with the Seedless Preserves Ink for texture and then got busy layering on my flowers and details.

I used flowers from the kit, and this month's floral add on, plus some past kit flowers and a silver bell to create the bottom corner piece.

I then added more flowers to the top corner and a couple to the side.

I layered in some of the Moxxie Winterland Die Cuts and edged the top layer in some more of the "snow" technique. The Snow White Glitter Glass Butterflies can be found in both the Reneabouquets.com Store and in the Reneabouquets Etsy Shop.

I made the snowflakes using some Tim Holtz frosted film that I inked and then edged with the Prima Sand Paste and Reneabouquets Silver Microbeads, then topped with some of the Bo Bunny pieces from the kit.

Thanks for coming by!! I so appreciate the visit!! My Winter Wish for you is that you stay warm, find something fun inside to do, and that you have a cup of hot tea or hot chocolate for me!! Hugs~Renea

Collecting Love Letters With The Scraps Of Elegance January Kit~Renea's Charm

Oh be still my romantic heart!! I don't know about you, but I am a super romantic girl at heart!! Add in a little Vintage Yumminess and you have totally got my attention. I just love that the new Scraps Of Elegance January Kit~Renea's Charm, not only has some of my FAV things in it, but that it can also go from Country Chic to Romantic Vintage in a heartbeat!!
For this project, I decided to create an Altered Book Box with a Love Letters theme, giving you a super romantic place to tuck in your love letters, photos and momentos for safe keeping:

I started with a paper mache Book Box and I coated it with Dina Wakley Gesso. I want my items to last for a lifetime, so I do this to seal the paper and to also make it more durable and ready to take hold of the inks, stains and mediums that I use.
I then layered on papers from the kit, some Reneabouquets Timeless Vintage Lace, paper Doilies, some of the tissue paper from the kit and then clipped a Vintage Image to it with a past kit piece. I distressed and inked the pieces with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink to get that aged look that I love.

Next I added on a Reneabouquets Vintage Romance Brooch, a flower from this month's Floral Add On along with some past kit flowers and leaves, and then created a bow out of the alphabet trim in the Embellishment Add On and tucked it in.

I added on the little Prima metal mail box with letters on it from the Embellishment Add On and more flowers beside it and at the top of my photo corner. added some Scrapmatts Chipboard letters to spell out LOVE, and then popped on a set of my Reneabouquets Tiny Treasures Salted Caramel Butterflies

For the back of the book, I inked in layers of Tim Holtz Tattered Rose and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Inks.

Tore pieces of the tissue paper from the kit and Mod Podged them on, inking over them with the Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I then painted randomly with one of my FAV mediums Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Crackle, let it air dry then inked over it with Tim Holtz Black Soot Distess Ink.

For the "Binding" side of the book, I covered it with some more of the tissue paper sheet from the kit, and inked over it.

I then created "pages" using Ranger Texture Paste, that I then sprayed with Tim Holtz Tarnished Brass Spray Stain, painted over with Dina Wakley Gesso, and then inked with the Vintage Photo Stain to get the look of worn pages. The book is held closed with a ribbon and velcro closure system.

I finished the book out inside with papers from the kit and inks.

Thank you for joining me for a look at how I put together one of my book boxes and for indulging my romantic side!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!! Hugs~Renea

Creating Special Times With The Scraps Of Elegance January Kit~Renea's Charm

This month, I am so excited to have the January Scraps Of Elegance Kit named after me~Renea's Charm!! Melinda has put together a kit that reflects my County Chic style so perfectly and I have been in heaven ever since my kit arrived at my door!! Thank you Mel for having me as part of this amazing team and for giving me the honor of having this kit named after me!!

For my first project with the kit, I used a photo of my sweet niece Haley, that my sister took. I have a super talented sis, who own her own photography studio, All About Smiles, and I love going through her photos and snagging a few.

I did lots of tearing, distressing, paper rolling, and layering of the kit papers to get that edgy look that I love. I then stipple painted and did some gesso drops that I coated in Reneabouquets Silver MicroBeads and Reneabouquets Light Grey Glitter Glass. The chipboard latice, I tucked under the corner tears is from a past kit.

I used one of the Fabscraps Gates, and the Prima Resin Fountain to add dimension and give my layout an outside garden look.

I laced the wooden hearts from the kit into the pattern on the paper using the textured trim that was also in the kit, and added a piece that I fussy cut from the Fabscraps pieces in the kit for my title "Extra Special Times". The Oh So Shabby Chic Butterflies are some of my FAVS and are included in this month's kit.

The burlap flowers were from the kit and the smaller flowers were all from past kits.
You can see all the layering and painting texture and dimension at this angle.

More flowers, hearts, layering and texute.

A close up shot of the lacing and paper rolling that I did to add in lots of dimension and texture.

I hope that you have enjoyed my 1st layout with the Renea's Charm Kit and I hope that you can grab one and come scrap along with me and the Design Team !! Hugs ~Renea

All You Need Is Love & A Cat Pocket Journal~

Today, I have a pocket journal I created with the Scraps Of Elegance Kit~Ever True. I actually had it done before I went on vacation, but I ran out of time to photograph, and post it. Putting something beautiful like this together that you can journal on and collect memories with is a snap when using the kits, because they always have all these perfect pieces that can be turned into places for journaling or adding small photos to!!

I created a pocket, using the gorgeous kit papers, added some  Reneabouquets Sheer Romance Lace,
and then fussy cut out one of the images, added a crystal to the hair bow from the kit,  and added it with foam tape.

The yellow and herringbone flower were from the kit and floral add on, and the feathers and teal flower were from my stash.
I then popped on two of my hand crafted Reneabouquets Tiny Treasure Chasing Butterflies.

The little cat tags were from the Embellishment add on and I added hand dyed seam binding to them and clipped them on with a little metal clip topped with one of the crystals from the kit

Here you can see the 5 Double Sided Cards and the 2 little tags untucked.

Thanks for dropping by and taking a peek!! I am now off to finish up a layout with the new Scraps Of Elegance Kit~Renea's Charm!!

Yes, the new kit is named after me, and it is loaded with some of my FAV things, so I hope you get the chance to grab one and come scrap along with me!! Hugs ~Renea
