A Heartfelt Goodbye And Sweet Layout~

Today, I have one of my last projects with Scraps Of Elegance to share with you. I have made the difficult decision of leaving the Design Team. I can't believe that it has been over 4 years, and I have loved being a part of such an amazing team. I hope that you have enjoyed all of my work with both the Scraps Of Darkness and Scraps Of Elegance Kits over the years and that I have inspired you in some small way. As a Design Team Artist that is my greatest hope, that I have inspired you to create and have taught you something new that you can take and use in your own work!!
A huge thank you to all of my followers, my sweet team members, but most of all to Melinda Kelly, for believing in me, supporting me and most of all for being my friend.

So, with that being said, here is my layout that I created with the November Kit~Tracey's Country Kitchen. I appologize for the photos, but it has been raining here for days to the point that it is starting to flood some of the areas around us, so I had a hard time getting good photos without shadows.

I started with a base layer of kit paper, then took a second layer and did some distressing and tearing, then inked the edges heavily. I then took some of the same ink and shaded in the area around my photo and the upper corner. Next, I did some stenciling with a past kit stencil and Ranger Texture Paste. I then misted some Corrugated Board with Tim Holtz Faded Jeans Spray Stain, added some distressed and inked kit paper and then popped on my photo. I tucked in a Prima Metal Clock Face, and one of the Prima Metals from the Embellishment Add On that I went over with some Gesso.

Here you can see all the inking and stenciling up close.

I added the large Burlap flower from the kit and some past kit flowers and twine and a sweet little Prima Robin Nest to form a flower layer at the bottom of the photo corner,
The Shabby Blue Roses Butterflies are from my Reneabouquets shops, and the Sweet Chipboard piece is a Blue Fern piece from a past kit that I painted with Gesso and then inked.

I tucked in pieces of the flower lace from the EAO under my tears for added texture and visual interest.

Thank you for visiting!! I appreciate each and every one of you who have followed my work with the Scraps Of Darkness and Scraps Of Elegance Kits and hope that you will join me for 2016 as I start my new adventure as part of the Blue Fern Studios Design Team. Hugs ~Renea

Merry Christmas Large Pocket Journal~

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas!!
I know that there are a lot of different colors out there being used for Christmas, but there is just something about those Traditional, Red, Greens & Whites that capture my heart!!

Today, I have a large Pocket Journal that I created with products from  Reneabouquets.com and Reneabouquets Etsy Shop that capture that Vintage Christmas feel that I love so much:

I started with a Reneabouquets Handcrafted Sewn Pocket Journal Base, and then got to layering with
papers from the Blue Fern Vintage Christmas Paper Collection. I absolutely love the papers from this collection!! I used the traditional reds, greens and whites for this project.

I added some YUMMY background texture using Ranger Texture Paste and a damask stencil.
The Snow White Glitter Glass Butterflies are my own handcrafted butterflies that I carry in my Reneabouquets Shops.

Next, a layer  of Wide Floral Lace was added to create a soft sheer background for my floral layer, which I created using some Prima and Petaloo flowers, as well as some feathers for softness.

At the corner of the sentiment paper piece, I added one of my Reneabouquets Victorian Christmas Die Cuts.

For this piece at the top of the folder system, I took a Blue Fern Ironworks Accent Chipboard Piece, painted it with Dina Wakley Gesso and then coated it with Reneabouquets Diamond Chunky Glitter Glass for a wonderful sparkle that you just can not see in the photos. I added a sweet little santa hat, and a tiny glass vile of Reneabouquets Silver Christmas Glitter. I used velcro to adhere it, so that the glitter can be removed and used on the journaling pieces.

The system contains:
2-Oversized, Double Sided Tags with seam binding bows topped with Snowflake Buttons
1 -Large Punched tag wit seam binding bow topped with a real Jingle Bell
2- Pull Outs that open up booklet style
2-Small, Double sided Pull Outs with seam binding bows.

I hope that you enjoy this Thanksgiving Holiday with your family and friends!! I just love all the fun stuff that surrounds these next weeks as we go full force into the Holidays! Thank you for taking the time during this busy season to stop by and let me share my projects with you!! Hugs ~Renea

French Country Pocket Journal

I love French Country and with the beautiful kitch designs on these papers, they were perfect for capturing that look. I love to create pocket journals, so I created this wonderful French Country style one using the Scraps Of Elegance November Kit~Tracey's Country Kitchen.

I first formed a 6 Inch wide x 9 Inch Tall pocket from the kit papers and then started layering!
I first added layers of distressed kit papers, fussy cut elements as well as layers of the Bo Bunny MiscMe Pieces.
Next came a layer of  Crochet Lace  and I then took some burlap ribbon edging and added it to the lace and to the angled pocket.

I added a sweet little, Brass Spoon, and took the twine from the kit and made a multi layered bow and added one of the Bo Bunny Brads from the kit to the center.
The Oh So Butterlicious Butterflies were created especially for this kit and you get a set of 2 with it.

For the floral layer I added a Petaloo Burlap Sunflower from the kit and some past kit flowers and stash foliage, then tucked in some scrap pieces of the burlap ribbon for lots of texture.

I then took a Tim Holtz Metal Book Plate, cut out the word "Cozy" from the Bo Bunny pieces and added some of the Bo Bunny Brads to the holes.

The Tuck Ins include:
2-Large Double Sided tags with a teapot theme created from the kit papers and piecies
3-Medium Double Sided Tags created from the MiscMe pieces and layered with kit paper pieces
This pocket journal is so perfect for housing journaling, small photos, momentos and small treasures!!

Thank you for the visit!! I love Country pieces!! They remind me so much of my Granny and her "Kitchy" Style. Hugs ~Renea

Country Chic~Scraps Of Elegance November Kit~ Tracey's Country Kitchen

Today, I have my first project that I created with the Scraps Of Elegance November Kit~Tracey's Country Kitchen. This kit was so perfect for putting together this Country Chic layout featuring a photo of my sweet, niece Haley.

I started with kit paper, then cut down another layer and distressed the edges then randomly punched some places.

I then took the Bo Bunny Copper Metallic Rub Ons from this month's Elements Add On, and added them to the layout.
I did some "ghost" stenciling with a Prima Damask stencil and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Ink
Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Ink.

I frayed some burlap to use under paper layers and my photo, inking and distressing the layers with
Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Ink to get a time worn look.

I layered a piece that I fussy cut from the kit, Bo Bunny Journaling cards adding one of the kit Bo Bunny Brads to the top.

I then fussy cut out a large clock piece from the kit papers and added that to the side. At the bottom of the photo, I added one of the gorgeous Prima Metal pieces from this month's Elements Add On.
The handcrafted butterflies are my Oh So Butterlicious Butterflies and were created to go with this month's kit and a set of 2 are included in the kit.

I created flower layers using some Petaloo Burlap Sunflowers, Petaloo Rose Flowers from this month's Floral Add On, some past kit Tilda Roses and then tucked in some Light Green Leaves and burlap string bows.

A repeat of similiar flowers was done at the bottom corner.

This kit is so perfect for so many different projects and I just love the Country feel to it!! I hope you have enjoyed my layout  and hopefully, I will get more time this week to play with it some more!! Until next time, hugs ~Renea

Prima Mixed Media Oversized Tag & Pocket Tag Set~

Today, I have my last project using the Scraps Of Elegance October Kit~Tiffany's Style to share with you. The new November Kit~ Tracey's Country Kitchen is now available in the store and it is a Country Chic beauty:

I created 2 oversized Mixed Media Tags, one is a Pocket Tag and the other has a journal spot on the back side.

First up I have the Pocket Tag. It is a large 4 1/4 x 9 1/4 Inch sized tag, that I started with a layer of the kit paper that I stenciled using a Tim Holtz Speckle Stencil, and Ranger Texture Paste. I then took a piece of canvas, frayed the edges and misted it with Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers Spray Stain and
Tim Holtz Seedless Preserves Spray Stain .  I added one of the Prima tags from the Embellishment Add On that I distressed and inked with Tim Holtz Seedless Preserves Distress Ink, topped it with some hemp rope and added Prima crystal from a precious kit.
Next came some Crochet Lace , and a Prima Oval Frame Resin that I filled with some beads that were gifted to me from my scrappy friend Phyllis Fernandez. I took a real seashell and added that to the corner, and the Tiny Treasures Sweetheart Teal Butterflies are from my Reneabouquets.com and the Reneabouquets Etsy shops.

Next I added flowers from the kit and Floral Add On and more hemp rope.

At the top I added a little Prima Crab Resin. I created corner details and texture using the glitter from the kit, Reneabouquets Chunky Teal Glitter Glass , and Reneabouquets Silver Microbeads along with more of those gifted beads.

On the backside I formed a pocket and topped it with more crochet lace, and kit flower, then took some of the journaling cards from the Kit, distressed the edges and tucked them into the pocket.

Here are the journaling cards untucked.

The 2nd Tag is an oversized 4 1/4 x 8 3/4 Inches. The first layer is distressed and inked kit paper and I topped it with another canvas panel that I stenciled and misted with Prima Soft Teal Color Bloom. I heated the edges on my canvas with my heat gun and actually burned them in spots to get that yummy aged look!!
The tag is one of the Prima Tags from the Embellishment Add On that I distressed and inked with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink, topping it with some rope and Prima crystal.
I then added more of the crochet lace.

I added  a Prima Oval Frame Resin and filled it with more of the gifted beads, topped it with a Prima Seahorse Resin that I colored.

I added some Floral Add On Flowers,  and more rope.

I added a real seashell, and then created puddles with Reneabouquets Chunky Lime Green Glitter Glass and more beads.

Here is the backside of the tag that I added a journal spot to from a past SOD kit.

Thank you for stopping by to see my last project with the October Kit! My November Kit should be here soon and I can't wait to play with it!! Until then, Hugs ~Renea

Prima Mixed Media Canvas Mini Album~

The Scraps Of Elegance October Kit~Tiffany's Style contained lots of the Prima Royal Menagerie Line and that line definitely has a Mixed Media Vibe to it so I decided to create a Mixed Media Mini Album that shows off that side of the kit!

I then took the Lavender Glitter that was in the kit and went around the edging of the album. I then went back in with Reneabouquets Chunky Teal Glitter Glass, and  Silver Microbeads to add in a contrasting color and texture.

I painted a piece of the Blue Fern Chipboard from this month's Elements Add On with Prima White Crackle Texture Paste, let that dry, then painted over the crackle randomly with some Lindy's Magicals that came in a past kit, and added more of the RB Glitter Glass and Silver Microbeads.

I took some of the kit paper, distressed the edges and added it to the cover, cut out the "There are so many beautiufl reasons to be Happy" quote, rolled the edges and then added some purple rope that my scrappy sister Phyllis Fernandez had gifted me.

At the top corner, I added some cheesecloth, some Prima flowers from the kit and this month's Floral Add on, and dry brushed some of the Lindy's onto one of the Prima Resin Shells from the Elements Add On.

I added more of the same to the bottom corner.

Page One:
I distessed and inked some of the kit paper with Tim Holtz Seedless Preserves Distress Ink, die cut one of the journaling cards from the EAO, added some Butterfly Lace, a  Reneabouquets Mini Teal Texture Rose, a Camellia Teal Flower, and one of the Prima flowers from the FAO.

In between each set of pages, I used the clear pockets from the album. There is a total of  4 of these clear pockets and they are perfect for sliding photos into, or small memorabilia and journling pieces.

Page Two:
I covered one of the canvas pages that come with the album with kit paper and ran some of the twine down the side. I then took a canvas page, misted it with Tim Holtz Broken China Distress Spray Stain then stenciled it with a Prima Stencil and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Spray Stain,  tied hand died seam binding through the page holes and then turned it into a pocket to house 7 of the double sided journaling cards and used a clip to hold them together.

Here is a shot of all the journaling cards.

Page 3:
I layered some of the kit paper ontot the canvas page, then cut a gate fold, and used some of my Book Latches to form a closure system.

You can unlatch the closure system and open it up for lots of space to put photos or journaling.

Page 4:
I misted one of the canvas pages with the same Prima stencil and the Peacock Distress Spray Stain. I then created a pocket out of the kit paper, added a piece of the Blue Fern Chipboard with the same painting and techniques as the front piece, popped on one of the sweet Prima paper clips from the kit, then created 2 double side tags from some of the journaling cards, seam binidng and flowers from the FAO.

Here are the tags untucked.

Page 5:
I covered the page with kit paper, inked and ran some Delicate Beauty Lace  down the side, and ran some more of the rope along the top and bottom edgets. I added a Prima Resin Swirl, and created 2 grunged up corrugated board photo spots, and added flowers for to the corners.

Page 6:
This page features another kit paper pocket, another little paper clip from the kit, a Prima Metal Clock Face with Prima Metal Clock Hands and topped with one of the Pearls fromt he kit. I created 2 double sided tags by taking the Prima tags from the kit, distressing and inking them, then misting them with Tim Holtz Seedless Preserves Distress Spray Stain, and some clear shimmer my IRL friend Tracy Mercer gave me  and then topping them with hand dyed seam binding bows and Reneabouquets Mini Teal Texture Roses, and then tucked in one of the journaling cards that I distressed and inked.

Here you can see those pieces untucked.

Page 7:
More kit paper topped with an inked Doily piece and a flower from the FAO.

Page 8:

Another page with kit paper, a die cut spot, butterfly lace, cheesecloth, Camillia flower, Prima flower from the FAO, and mini texture rose. The "love with all your heart" quote was cut from the kit papers.

I then binded all the pages together with the hand dyed seam binding, pulled it through the binding, and tied bows, then tied more rope, and teal binding to those pieces and added a glass, corked vile of my Reneabouquets Chunky Teal Glitter Glass, topped it with one of the mini texture roses and a "dream" sentiment cut from the kit paper.

Here you can see all my Chunky Layers and how the mini ties closed with hand dyes seam binding.

Here is a shot of the backside.

OK, I am now exhausted!! Those mini albums are a lot of work and going through all the details is just as extensive!! I hope you have enjoyed my complete walk through of my Mini Mixed Media piece of art!! I hope you have a wonderful week!! Hugs ~Renea
