Scraps of Elegance November Reveal Is Here!!!

Welcome to my blog and to the reveal of the Scraps Of Elegance November Kit Je t'aime. If you love gorgeous parfait colors then this is so the kit for you. So many soft wonderful colors, and luscious embellishments, will give you many hours of pure scrappy enjoyment!

Here is this month's kit:

Along with every kit you will also receive a, designed just for that month's kit, amazing sketch by our very own Charlotte aka Sue Pup. Here is this month's sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch, featuring a photo of Maddie, one of our friends beautiful daughter. Maddie had a bunch of photos taken for her music resume, and her mom gave me permission to use them for some of my work.

I started with layers of distressed papers from the kit, along with a layer of card stock from this month's add on that I covered in shiny tissue paper and then textured the edges with puff paint for lots of dimension. I then grunge punched in areas and rolled some of the corners to look like turned back page edges.

I used a brick stencil and Snow Tex to create yummy, textured brick areas.

I used a stash Dusty Attic bracket that I inked and stamped, adding on a Prima resin piece from a past kit, and then created a flower layer using the Prima resin window and some flowers from the kit and some resin ones from a past kit.

On the bottom edge of the photo, I used the Fab Scraps Chipboard piece from the kit that I inked and glitter glassed up, then added some more of the Petaloo flowers from the kit, a large Prima flower from the Flora & Fauna Add on, some more resin flowers, and some cheesecloth for added texture and softness.

The butterflies are Mid Winter's Dream Butterflies from my Etsy Shop-Reneabouquets.

I just love how soft and frothy this turned out~so Shabby Chic!!

Next, I have a layout that I did featuring a photo from a friend of the families, daughter, Lauren's wedding. I did some major fussy cutting for this layout and lots of flower and embellishment layering. The colors in the paper add on were perfect for Lauren's wedding colors!

I used flowers from this month's floral add on, as well as past kit flowers, the white and gold lace, as well as the mistable white feathers, from the embellishment add on , the Dusty Attic Birds On a Wire Chipboard from the kit, and a few leftovers from past kits. The thing about the kits that Melinda puts together, is that she gives you so much, you will find yourself reaching for items from past kits over and over again~

The French Vanilla Pearl and Glitter Glass Butterflies are from my Etsy Shop~

I can not get through a kit without doing at least one Altered Piece and this is a Vintage look Altered Memory Book Box and Stationary Set that I created. I love doing these! They are so romantic, and make a perfect place to store memory items in.

For the top of the box I distressed lots of layers of the kit and paper add on papers. I also layered in one of the Ruby Rocket sticker tags, and then added on some Vintage lace from my stash. I used a sweet Vintage image, adding a stash pearl piece to the corner of the photo. The resin piece is a Prima piece that I purchased from the Scraps of Elegance/SOD Store. The Damask chipboard was a gift from my sweet, scrappy sister Michelle Phillips~ The clock was one of the Ruby Rocket Stickers that I added some hands to, and they along with those wonderful glittered and beaded leaves were  from this month's embellishment add on. The Emmie Butterfly was created by me and a set of 2 comes with this month's kit~

Here you can see all the texture work and staining that I did to make the side of the book look like, old well worn pages.

I layered in tissue tape and did lots of inking to make a binding.

The back of the book has multiple layers of stain, distress paints and hand stamping.

Tucked inside the book are lots of little notecards and tags made from the kit and add on papers, and a mini set of my Emmie Butterflies from my Reneabouquets Etsy Shop~

For my last project, I decided to do a multiple photo layout of Emmie with her furry best friend, and I have to say, I rarely do multiple photo layouts, and I find it very challenging.  So kudos to you gals who can get a lot of photos on your pages and still have it turn out fabulous~

I did lots of stamping into crackle paint, punching and layering on this one. All the flowers are from this month's Flower Add On. I added some of the Prima Say it in Crystals from the Embellishment add on to some, just to change the look up some and layered some of them onto the Maya Road Doillies from the E.A.O. The little tag and journaling were also from this month's EAO and the Vintage lace and burlap are from my stash.

Well, thank you for coming by for reveal~ I hope you get a chance to check out all the DT's work with this wonderful kit. I know I enjoy getting to head over and check out what they created. I always come away totally inspired by the different ways our versatile team uses the kit, and I think you will be too!! Don't forget to head over to the Scraps Of Elegance or Scraps of Darkness Blog on November 15th to join in on the SOD reveal day blog hop!!! Hugs till later~Renea

Here is the gorgeous color pallette:

And here is my entry as a Guest Detective:

I used a photo of my Aunt Annie's daughter Michelle on her wedding day. A formal event was one of the CSI Testimony Prompts.  My son, Draven did the photos for her wedding, and I used this close up that I colorized in Photoshop to match my layout.
I used this month's Scraps Of Elegance Kit and Add Ons -Dreams of You along with some stash pieces to create the layout.

Here I did some stamping with a Rubber CafĂ© Paisley Stamp to create drama at the top and bottom of the Doilie layers. The butterflies are Champagne Dream Butterflies from my Etsy Shop.

Here is a peek a boo that I created, by tearing the paper and adding a fussy cut Doilie from paper in the Paper Add on and then added a brad from the embellishment add on.

I created a flower layer using flowers from the floral add on, past kits and my stash, and lots of leaves to fulfill one of the evidence prompts. I used the Dusty Attic frame to house my journaling, to fulfill the testimony prompt. The little lock and key are also Dusty Attic. The Scraps Of Elegance store has lots of Dusty Attic in stock ;)

In the background I used a black lace transparency, and on the photo, I used Rub Ons , both were from the  CSI Evidence Prompts.

I hope you get a chance to check it out and play along, and get in on some of those spectacular prizes!!! Thanks for stopping by!! ~Renea

If Pictures Could Talk~ For OUAS Challenge~ Using The Scraps Of Darkness October Kit Mortica's Wish

Oh I can tell it is a Monday!! I so didn't want to get in gear today-lol! The only thing good about today is that I have a layout to share with you that I created for the Once Upon A Sketch October Challenge using the super gorgeous Scraps Of Darkness-October Kit-Mortica's Wish. The challenge was to use their sketch, with some type of journaling (hidden or seen),  along with the following journaling as inspiration:

I used a photo of some of our friends, daughter, Maddie (with her mom's permission-of course)  to create the layout, and focused the layout around this sentiment "If Pictures Could Talk" that was inspired from the above journaling, and I have a pull out tag to house my hidden journaling. Maddie has been singing, since she was a little girl. It has always been such a shock to see this tiny, little, petite girl, open up her mouth and hear this big ole, country voice come out of her. Her parents have always supported and helped her to chase her dream, and they just recently moved to Nashville, to try to give Maddie a chance at making it in the music scene. I know how hard that dream can be on someone, and I wish Maddie and her family nothing but the best of luck!!

I started it with a layer of Carta Bella Paper from this month's kit, then took a template I have and cut out the shaped layer from a piece of the Moxxie paper from the kit.  Next, I cut a 3rd layer of paper from the My Mind's Eye Kit Paper and distressed, and inked the edges then punched the bottom corner.

I used the burlap from the kit for a photo matt, and frayed the edges to get the shabby look I love. The flourishes are from this month's embellishment add on, and the butterflies are from this month's Flora & Fauna Add On.

The top flower layer consists of the burlap flowers from the kit, the cloth flowers(that I misted and then added centers from a past kit to)  and leaves from the Flora & Fauna Add On, a ScrapMatts chipboard clock and a paper bloom from a past kit.

Here I took a leftover canvas page from the mini album (in this month's Creativity Kit) that I created and wove a piece of the burlap trim from this month's Embellishment add on into the eyelets.

I then created a chipboard tag, painted it with gesso, and added a piece of the kit paper, a sticker tag from the kit, and then heavily inked all the edges and added some leftover burlap frays for the tag pull. The tag tucks into the canvas pocket, so perfect for hidden journaling.

The bottom corner piece was created just like the top piece, just with a large Tim Holtz Weathered clock piece and hands. You can also see her where I puddled seed beads to get that grungy texture that I love so much.

I misted the opposing corners with mist, then took a stipple brush to get the sponge look. I also glitter glammed the distressed edges of my papers for a shiny look. I used the Prima Metal Keys from the kit to tuck under the notebook punched layer.

I had so much fun playing along with the OUAS challenge and I love how versatile this month's kit was. I had created a lot of Halloween projects for reveal, and this layout shows how you can also get something feminine, and yummy from the kit.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week! Don't forget to do something fun and creative along the way!! ~Renea

Bring On The Darkness Challenge

Create something DARK!   It can be a layout, an altered item, whatever you want.
It must be "dark". What you consider that to be is up to your interpretation, and what you are comfortable with.

Keep it R rated or less.

Post it in the Scraps Of Darkness gallery and in the Challenge Forum thread.

Post it on SB.com with the challenge listed in your description, and Scraps of Darkness listed in the title.

Use at least 50% Scraps of Darkness or Scraps of Elegance products on your project.
You have from now until October 31st.

The winner will be chosen by Melinda, and the way she will choose is by what she considers to be "the darkest". (And what does she consider dark? Well that is for you to guess and her to know!) The winner will be announced on November 1st, in the forum Challenge thread and on the Scraps Of Darkness Blog. The winner will receive the November Main Kit for free (not including shipping or taxes, if applicable - just the kit :D )

And here is my fun entry for the challenge.

It is an altered Printer Tray and shows once again the versatility of the kit. Not everyone likes to stay on the page, and our kits can go anywhere, from a layout, to mini album, to an altered project, to cards. Whatever your imagination can dream of, our kits can help you make it a reality!!!

And Now, I am doing a blog hop prize!!! The lucky winner will get a $15.00 Gift Certificate to the Scraps Of Darkness Store!!!!  If you haven't ever checked it out, the store is filled with the latest and greatest products including lots of Dusty Attic Chipboard and our very own Drycha's Third Eye Stamps!!! Scraps of Elegance will be providing the prize this month for the winner at CSI. It's the gorgeous, elegant September kit, Nostalgia. Here is the gorgeous color pallette:

And here is my entry as a Guest Detective:

I used lots of layers of past kit papers, flowers and embellishments to pull the CSI color scheme together.

Here you can see where I stamped with puffies for lots of texture and added some of those Flourish With A Bling Pearls for accents. The ruffle (one of the CSI evidence promps)  is crepe paper (another evidence prompt). I coated my edges with lots of tinted glitter glass and seed beads to get even more yummy texture.

The mat behind the photo is painted corrugated board with seed bead accents and shimmer paints.

I chose a sweet Vintage image of 2 little girls sharing Secrets, the Testimony Prompt of the Case File, and also journaled with "Curiousity Is Lying In Wait For Every Secret."

This was my first time playing along with the challenge, and it is definitly challenging, but also a lot of fun. I hope you get a chance to check it out and play along, and get in on some of those spectacular prizes!!! Thanks for stopping by to share a few secrets, but don't worry I won't tell-lol!! ~Renea
